Build Strength & Confidence
Our students develop focus, confidence, emotional control, and mental resilience through our programs. Jiu Jitsu helps kids (and adults!) handle life’s challenges with discipline and self-belief — all while having a blast on the mats.
REDUCE YOUR STRESS
Confidence that comes from knowing how to defend yourself physically carries over into everyday life. Our programs equip both kids and adults with the tools to stay calm, handle stress, and face setbacks with strength — on and off the mats.
GET IN GREAT SHAPE
Our classes are built for anyone — no Jiu Jitsu or fitness experience required. Students learn real self defense, build mental toughness, and get into the best shape of their lives in a fun, safe, beginner-friendly environment. Best part? Jiu Jitsu is so fun, you won’t even realize how much exercise you’re getting.
FIND YOUR TRIBE

Samar Rizvi2025-01-30Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had heard BJJ was great for kids but wow! What a transformation and change in focus and attention for our kids. Love love love coach Brian. He’s absolutely wonderful with the kids, and so positive, encouraging and patient with those with special needs (ADHD, Autism etc). I can’t believe we didn’t know about this hidden gem in Oakville and that too right by the Bronte Go station. Can’t wait to start the women’s kickboxing sessions here. In just 2 months the kids have already learned so much and are eager to come to every session. Hina M2024-10-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wonderful instructors, they are very friendly and good with children. I would definitely recommend them Helen Zhang2024-08-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very nice space and instructors! Balaj Hasan2024-08-20Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The classes are very approachable yet challenging at the same time. The instructor(s) not only teach great technique but also explain the process and the why behind it. Highly recommend for all levels. Ken Chapman2024-08-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Attended an open mat - so not a standard class, but an absolutely beautiful space and clearly clean. Brian, Vin and Anton were super welcoming - oss! Kyra Nabeta2024-07-31Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I emailed back and forth a bit with Brian before dropping in for the Judo for BJJ class. We had a good chat before class about BJJ as a tool to teach other life skills, and he even had a spare gi and belt to lend me for class. As much as I hate getting thrown, I picked up some great tips and drills from Anton that I hope to bring back to my home gym. The entire class after was just rolls and there were no weird rules about who could roll with whom; everyone was fair game. There was one other female in a class of about 8, a good spread of new and senior belts, and a friendly and chill vibe throughout. The practice space and changerooms were open and clean; it's a new building with tons of parking, and it looked like there's still a bit of construction going on elsewhere in the building on the way upstairs. I look forward to dropping in again! Earl Misquitta2024-06-20Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Love this place! The coaches & the students all feel like a big family. They both push & encourage you to be better. You feel their passion come through in the welcoming atmosphere. Oh ya and the huge windows are great when training at sunset! Nicholas Mallozzi2024-05-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Came here on a friday for the Judo for BJJ class and adult sparring. Mat space, washrooms and change rooms are super clean. They have a water cooler with drinks which I thought was a great touch. Coaches are very patient and gentle when sparring. Mat space is very large with lots of space for rolling and the large windows let in lots of natural light which makes for a very calming atmosphere. Will be coming back for cross-training for sure. Hansen Liu2024-05-19Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Popped in for open mat today, Brian was really chill and easy to talk to. The environment was also very new and clean.

Each class begins with a simple warm up. Then your coach will lead the class through the technique portion of the day. Technique is done slow, and controlled so even when your brand new you get a chance to practice. After technique sometimes we play a "mini game" based on the technique and position of the day and then we line up, thank our training partners and that ends the class. There won't be any live sparring or rolling on your first day to keep you safe.
At The Dojo Project, we aren't an ego based competitive gym. We want our students to learn martial arts in a place where they feel comfortable and safe.
No! This is a massive misconception in martial arts. The only thing that's going to get you fit is to start training and practicing regularly. You can go at a pace that works for you and build your fitness up over time.
The order of belt ranking in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is: White, Blue, Purple, Brown and Black.
Everyone starts as a white belt, no matter their age, physical condition, or previous martial arts experience.
As you make progress in you knowledge, skills, and abilities you will be recognized by stripes on your belt and eventually a new belt level.
Getting good at Jiu Jitsu specifcally takes time and practice the secrets to advancing in rank are to show up consistently, enjoy learning, and love the process of training.
The vast majority of students will train with us 2-3 times per week. As you are just starting out and everything is brand new 2 classes a week might be perfect for you.
Once you've got the hang of the basics you may decide to bump up to 3 or 4 classes per week.
So much of this depends on the individual who is training but for a broad statement 2-3 times per week is what you should aim for to see consistent lon term progress.
If you've never done martial arts or Jiu-Jitsu before you'll notice results within the first week or two. Your muscles might be a little sore but that will greatly reduce and you'll find yourself not getting tired as easily and your body bouncing back faster after class. You'll increase strength, flexibility and stamina and you will notice these changes very quickly with consistent training.
